One learning day: one story with every AI exercise.
We count complete learning days: translating a story of about 10 sentences and having it checked, one grammar test, one written exercise block, one photo of the translation, 5 speaking exercises and 10 sentences read aloud. Such a learning day costs 181 credits with OpenAI or 94 credits with Mistral.

The whole season
A whole season with 36 stories, 1,080 words and 216 phrases needs about 6,516 credits with OpenAI or 3,384 credits with Mistral, every AI exercise included. That is 1.7 or 0.9 months of one child’s included credits, whatever the plan. Vocabulary training and exercises marked without AI cost no credits.
European AI: Mistral
Every AI exercise is also available with Mistral, a provider from France, processed via the EU endpoint. Mistral needs fewer credits, so the included credits go about 1.9 times as far as with OpenAI. You choose the provider in your account; schools set it centrally for the school account.
Every new check uses credits again. Having the translation, grammar test and exercise block checked again after mistakes costs about 27 credits more with OpenAI or 17 credits more with Mistral; every further voice recording adds to that as well. If the included credits are not enough, you top up credit that does not expire. With your own API key, no credits are used.

Parents choose OpenAI as platform AI. In schools, the choice is set centrally for the school account. Authorized parents and teachers can choose a different provider per child for photos and speaking exercises.

Vokabero does not add names, email addresses, school, class or account data to AI requests. Only the content needed for the exercise is sent. Texts, photos and voice recordings may contain personal information; please leave it out or remove it before uploading. Anonymity of photos and voices is not guaranteed.
Mistral via Vokabero
Mistral is a French AI provider and is subject, among other things, to the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Vokabero uses the EU endpoint to process AI requests. This is not a guarantee that all operating and account data are processed exclusively in the EU.

Large 3 checks texts, Small 4 reads photos, Voxtral Small assesses voice recordings and Voxtral TTS handles reading aloud. For photos and speaking exercises, authorized parents and teachers can choose Mistral for each child.
Vokabero also does not add names, email addresses, school, class or account data to Mistral. The exercise content, including uploaded photos and voice recordings, is sent to the chosen provider and may contain identifying information.

Own key for OpenAI or Mistral
With your own OpenAI or Mistral API key, the chosen provider bills usage directly to you. No Vokabero credits are used for this.

The base fee remains. Schools manage their keys centrally in the school account. Both providers are stored separately. The notices about sending exercise content also apply with your own key; the provider then knows the provider account linked to your key.

Each AI action costs a fixed number of credits. How many is fixed in advance and depends on the provider you choose. First, the credits included in your plan for the month are used up; they expire at the end of the month. Then topped-up balance is used, which does not expire.
